Winery & Ranch Directions

The drive to Galante Vineyards, while somewhat tenuous, offers beautiful vistas of Carmel Valley and the Santa Lucia Highlands. Please allow yourself plenty of time to get to the property, as it often takes longer than you think. From San Francisco (3 hours) / San Jose: (2 hours): Take Highway 280 South to Highway 85 at Mountain View. Take Hwy 85 to 101 South at Gilroy. Take 101 South all the way to Salinas. (Coming from San Jose take 101 directly to Salinas). Once in Salinas take the Sanborn Road, Monterey Peninsula exit. (There is another Monterey Peninsula exit before you reach Salinas. If you take this exit it will take you past Fort Ord to Monterey - a longer route). At the first light make a right going west on Sanborn. Stay on this road (it turns into East Blanco) through three lights until you reach Highway 68 (the Salinas-Monterey Highway). Turn left on Hwy 68 and go approximately 10 miles until you see the sign for Laureles Grade, Carmel Valley.

**Turn left (the only way you can) onto this road which takes you over the hill and into Carmel Valley. At the bottom of the hill take a left onto the Carmel Valley Road. After a few miles you will come to the Carmel Valley Village. After passing through the village you will follow the road for approximately 4.5 miles until you see the turnoff for the Cachagua Road, Los Padres Dam. Turn right on this road and follow it for 5 miles. The road is very narrow and winding. You will see a tall (8 foot) mesh and barbed wire fence with greenish posts on your left and you will come to a green metal double gate. Pass this gate and follow the road another 1/2 mile to the next gate on your left. Enter here the gate code is #4444. Follow the main dirt road (marked with bottle direction markers) to the winery at the top of hill (white/green building with cupola on top).

From Carmel/Monterey/Big Sur (approximately 50 minutes) and Carmel Valley (25 minutes): From Hwy 1 take the Carmel Valley Road (G16) to the Carmel Valley Village (cute downtown area where Carmel Valley Chamber is). After you leave the village you will stay on Carmel Valley road for 4.5 miles until you see the turnoff for Cachagua Road on your right. Turn right on this road and follow it for 5 miles. From Los Angeles and other points south: (varying times): Take Hwy 101 N to the Hwy 68- Monterey Peninsula exit. Follow Hwy 68 to the Laureles Grade. See directions from ** in the above San Francisco directions
