Blackjack Pasture 1999
This was a very unusual year, as we lost most of the crop (about 60%) to a late summer frost. Since the Blackjack field is slightly higher in elevation, and on a gradual slope, this field did not suffer as much damage, however the frost thinned the crop out quite a bit. This left small clusters of highly concentrated grapes, and those that were left created wines of intense character and depth. With yields of only 1 ton per acre this Blackjack is deep and rich with wonderful hints of bittersweet chocolate and blackberry. The 1999 will last for many years in the cellar.
